As we enter the season of gratitude, we wanted to share more about our appreciation for the Lake Country Growers community and the unexpected blessing we have received from creating this business from the ground up! As entrepreneurs and busy moms, it hasn’t always been easy. However, we always persevered through hardship because we knew that it would all be worth it one day.

What We’ve Learned: The 5 Pillars of Building Our Business

Perseverance

When we initially embarked on the journey of creating Lake Country Growers, we had no idea what to expect. It wasn’t until recent years that the hemp industry became more accepted and less taboo. The passing of the 2018 Farm Bill opened the doorway for selling legal, therapeutic hemp products. Although we had a passion, there wasn’t a clear blueprint yet of how to be successful in such a niche industry.

On top of that, being a small business owner is no easy job, especially when you factor in being a mother and a wife. In order to stay afloat, we had to persevere through roadblocks even when it would have been easier to give up or quit. In a world of instant gratification, sometimes it takes years of work before you see true success and benefits from your business.

Reflecting on where we are today compared to where we started is incredibly inspiring for us because we wouldn’t be here without perseverance.

Determination

“the firmness of purpose; resoluteness”

A major driving force of our business wasn’t just making sales. We have always had a larger vision motivated by helping our customers. We have witnessed the benefits of hemp products first-hand and seen just how powerful they can be for physical and emotional relief.

We saw a gap in the industry for accessible, trusted hemp products that destigmatize what many people imagine when they think of CBD, Delta 8 and more. We wanted you to see the ‘Farmily’ behind the cause. Why? Because we know just how important that is for building trust and security, which are both essential when trying new (sometimes intimidating) products.

Determination in pursuit of our authentic mission has kept us showing up every day, regardless of the circumstances.

Grit

“courage and resolve; strength of character”

Starting, owning and running a business takes a lot of courage. It’s easy to look at what other people are doing and think, should I be doing that too? Maybe I should change this? Am I doing enough? As two women co-founders, we had to stick to our guns and listen to our hearts. It’s true, we aren’t everyone's cup of tea. But we’ve grown to realize that the customers that stick around get it, and many of you appreciate the personable realness you get here at LCG!

Lake Country Growers doesn’t look like every other online CBD and hemp store, but that’s what makes it ours. For us, business is personal. We care about our customers which is why we are diligent about the quality of the products we sell, how they are packaged, and how we can help you feel comfortable and confident using them.

Grit was always within us, but running LCG has taught us the true importance of staying strong, sticking to your vision, and putting the hard work in even when you don’t want to.

Gratitude

More than anything, our gratitude for the LCG community is what fills up our cup and reminds us why we do what we do. Every time we get a message from you, hear a success story or receive a positive review, it makes our day! It’s an honor to work in an industry that makes a real lasting impact on your everyday lives. We hope our products give you back a piece of yourself, whether that’s peace, pain relief, relaxation or simply fun!

Additionally, we are grateful for everything that LCG has given to our family. Raising kids and teens in today’s world can be challenging and it’s been a beautiful experience to take our kids on this journey with us. They have experienced the first-hand benefits of hard work in the face of adversity over a long period of time.

We love to share the progress of the company and remind them that they all played a huge role in that! Our business has allowed us to instill amazing values and life lessons in our children that we hope will inspire them as they grow into adults.

Resilience

“the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties; toughness”

When we look back over the last four years, we always think of the word resilience. Both of us had to balance the responsibilities of being a mom, wife, and business owner on top of our other jobs. Most days, it felt like we could never quite keep the scales balanced, nevertheless, we continued to show up anyway.

Once we launched the Gold Lead Collection at the beginning of the worldwide pandemic, it was stressful. If we’re being honest, most people would have decided to give up right then and there. As challenges popped up, we kept finding ways to make it happen. As we continue to hear stories of the families that have been impacted by our products, we remember why it was worth all the struggles.

Resilience is what kept us moving forward even when we felt like we didn’t have the strength. Today, we couldn’t be more proud of how far we’ve come. We would do it all again hundred times if it meant helping even one of you!
