WHAT IS CBD OIL?
Cannabidiol or CBD for short is a compound found in the phytonutrient-rich cannabis plant. CBD is one of the hundreds of cannabinoids found in cannabis. The Gold Leaf Collection CBD products are derived from hemp and do not contain THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) the psychoactive compound that is found in marijuana. Our products are called THC- FREE or Broad Spectrum CBD oil.
IS CBD SAFE FOR MY DOG AND/OR CAT?
Like humans, all vertebrae animals have an Endocannabinoid System or ECS. The ECS has been linked to hundreds of processes within the body. CBD works directly with the ECS to help maintain balance and support a healthy system. Veterinarians along with Physicians are rapidly learning more about the effects of CBD. With the passing of the 2018 Farm Bill, there are now hundreds of scientific studies underway to back up the extensive anecdotal evidence from CBD users.
HOW WILL CBD AFFECT MY PET?
CBD is non-toxic, non-addictive, and won’t get your pet “high”. Every pet will have a slightly different experience depending on what their body needs. Older pets can tend to act younger. Nervous pets can act calmer. Each experience will be as unique as your pet.
WHAT SHOULD I LOOK FOR IN A CBD OIL?
Avoid cheaper options. Typically higher the quality and purity, the higher the cost. Watch out for toxic substances such as pesticides, herbicides, or heavy metals. WHICH CBD PRODUCT IS RIGHT FOR MY PET? CBD TREAT OR A CBD TINCTURE?
Deciding between a treat and a tincture is a personal preference. For daily over wellness, a treat can be fun but with a larger animal, you may find you are giving them a lot of treats to reach the desired effects. With a tincture, you can adjust the dose to fit your situation.
HOW MUCH CBD DO I GIVE MY PET?
Dosing is adjusted according to your pet’s weight. We recommend starting with a lower dose administering that same dose over a couple of days. Monitor your pet and see how they do. If you don’t get the results you desire you can increase the dose incrementally. We recommend 2 mg for every 17lbs of weight. Consult with your veterinarian before starting a new regimen.
