Delta-8 THC is a cannabinoid found in the Cannabis sativa plant, of which marijuana and hemp are two varieties. Unlike CBD, Delta-8 THC is intoxicating.

Delta-8 occurs naturally in the plant, but only in very small amounts. It is usually made from hemp-derived CBD: CBD is extracted from hemp, purified into CBD isolate, and then converted into Delta-8 THC through a chemical process called isomerization.

What is broad-spectrum CBD?

Broad-spectrum CBD is one of the three types of CBD extract commonly used to make CBD products.

The first extract taken from the hemp plant is called full-spectrum CBD, or a whole-plant extract. It contains the other compounds found in hemp, including flavonoids, terpenes, and other cannabinoids. It also contains some Delta-9 THC, up to 0.3%.

Not everyone wants to consume Delta-9 THC in any amount. Broad-spectrum CBD is made when a full-spectrum extract is purified of its Delta-9 THC. It contains 0.0% Delta-9 THC, but can still contain other cannabinoids and compounds such as cannabichromene, limonene, or myrcene.

CBD may cause dry mouth, drowsiness, and fatigue.

Delta-8 THC is similar to Delta-9 THC and may cause similar side effects at higher amounts, such as red eyes, lowered coordination, or slow reaction times. Eat the chocolate at home.

You may fail a drug test after eating this chocolate. Many drug tests do not look for a specific type of THC. They look for THC metabolites, which the body makes when it processes any form of THC, including Delta-8.
